Full container Shipment: If your consignment is larger, we would suggest either a sole-use 20ft/40ft container, this has great advantages when planning your overseas move. Sole-use containers usually take between 2 to 3 weeks port to port and there is a weekly service from all major ports.

Once prepared all consignments will be inventoried and will be bar coded before loading, this will ensure that no items are left at origin.

Living in Canada

While often overshadowed by its southern neighbour, the USA, Canada is a vast country with a strong economy, multi-cultural society, and spectacular scenery, attracting great numbers of immigrants from all over the world.

Located north of North America, extending from the Atlantic to the Pacific Ocean, Canada is the second largest country in the world by land mass. Originally inhabited by aboriginal groups, explorations in the late 15th century led to British and French settlements. Canada is nowadays a parliamentary democracy and a constitutional monarchy, with both English and French as official languages. Canada is one of the world’s leading economies, that relies on the country’s diverse natural resources and mineral reserves. The country can also boast a high life expectancy, and good levels of literacy and school enrolment, and is known to have the highest quality of life in the world, according to the United Nations Human Development Index.

While Canada might not be as diverse as the US, it offers a truly multi-cultural atmosphere, a better quality of life than many European destinations, stunning places to visit, and a variety of employment opportunities.

Tips About Moving to and Living in Canada:

  • To be able to work in Canada, you will need a work permit, which is however only a temporary immigration document.

  • To live in Canada permanently, you need to qualify for immigration under one of the categories of the Canadian Immigration Authorities.

  • The cost of living and housing in Canada is considerably cheaper than in the UK. Cities, for example Toronto and Vancouver are generally more expensive, than rural areas.

  • Some of Canada’s social policies differ markedly from those in the US. Health care is publicly funded, taxation is higher so as to distribute wealth more evenly, and there’s more focus on liberal social policies, while capital punishment is outlawed, and gun ownership is controlled very strictly.

  • You should also consider employment opportunities before moving to Canada. Expats can choose from a variety of jobs, and there are skills shortages in many industries, so it can be relatively easy to find something that will fit your skills.

The 2 men who came on Tuesday 25th worked hard and efficiently all day but still left a fair mount of packing for the... following day. On the day of the move, Wednesday 26th, completion of the sale was finalised by 11am but we couldn't vacate the premises until 1pm due to the amount still to be packed. The addition of a 3rd man did little to help and in fact the quality of packing he did was hurried and not up to standard. Overall we would recommend Britannia.read more

We chose Britannia as they seemed the most professional of the three removal companies that we approached. They were... clearly experienced in moving long distances across the country. They did not disappoint. The removal men could not have been more helpful or considerate. Our new house does not have the easiest of access but they coped admirably. I would thoroughly recommend them - indeed we have done do to our nephew and his wife who are moving south soon.read more

I have always received great service from this company. I have used them on several occasions, both for removals and... storage. They are always polite, friendly, helpful and professional. I have moved several times and the guys have always been punctual and very careful with my belongings. The storage side of the business is also great. The price for my container was very reasonable and it was stored in a clean, dry and secure environment. Whenever I have had cause to email the office, my mails have been answered quickly and politely at all times. I wouldn't use anyone else and highly recommend them. Thanks.read more

My wife and I were very happy with the service provided right from the first contact with the request for a quote to... the offer to collect the boxes and packing materials after we have finally moved into our new home. Special mention needs to be made for the driver who was loading and unloading during the hottest days of the year. He was courteous, considerate and friendly at all times. He and the team coped very well with the move into our fourth floor flat - they were careful not cause any marks to the recently refurbished entrance foyer for the block of flats.read more

Used Britannia for the first time a couple of weeks ago. Very happy all round, good contact with head office when... needed, lads were very cheerful and helpful. They really struggled with a wardrobe refusing to fit around staircase. eventually they stripped it down to smaller sections to complete the move. Would definitely recommend to any friends.read more
